The SPIRITS BOX is a bar cabinet originally created to bartend at home. The idea of mixing drinks for friends and family makes one feel like a timeless stylish gentleman pouring drinks in a totally new house space.
Through some marquetry and joinery ideas, I have created patterns that elevate the design’s appearance while staying true to its materials and integrity. Different hardwoods have been worked into geometric shapes portraying an exclusive and colorful composition. The almost polyhedral and masculine outer design contrasts with the crazy, feminine and intense magenta and the mirror’s structure inside. The idea of contrast, underscored by the colors as well as the graphic differences between the inside and outside, reinforces my aim to evoke a myrriad of intense sensations. This piece brings together design, craft and technique.
