Jonay Nicolas Cogollos van der Linden (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 1978) expresses his creative ideas by combining his talents as a painter, engraver and product designer in order to foster interplay between graphic and artistic processes and the creation of signature furniture, art pieces and other objects.
In the creative process, Jonay explores new fields, techniques and processes that can benefit him as a learning curve or in helping to develop new personal projects. It is a complex matter to define the difference between art and design, and there are serious doubts as to the frontiers between both disciplines. Artistic processes have a direct influence on the generation of design ideas, while the world of design uses art or artistic processes as a source of inspiration. In his work, there may be some conceptual differences between one discipline and the other, but the boundaries between both disappear when he is immersed in creating or producing work. It is in that intermediate space that Jonay and his work should be situated.
