In this piece I have worked with the concept of visual distortion characteristic of the Moire effect in order to apply optical illusions on different tiles that have a variety of colors to generate different rhythmic and movement impressions.
Moiré patterns are formed by superimposing several figures composed of lines of different colors, achieving a third color in the superposition. The volumetry that is achieved by combining the stamped moire with the airbrush, results in a piece with a neo-retro touch with an artistic style close to the approaches of Op art.
I have worked manually on 10 x 10 cm tiles that I have silkscreened with different colored slip, using several overlapping patterns in the process. To print the tiles I used a 43-thread silk screen canvas, and then I applied the same colored slip to the edges of each tile using an airbrush. Finally I have enameled the pieces in order to get a durable vitreous coating using a ceramic kiln
I have subsequently built the metal structure to fit the edges and protect the tiles.
